Irony
I am at NUS Women’s Campaign Conference in Coventry.
At dinner tonight, vegetarians were offered three main dishes, and one fish option, which only the vegetarians were allowed to eat. Non-vegetarians were told they were eating a chicken main course. Everyone was given melon for starters, and dessert was fruit salad.
Irony: the priority campaign this year is pro-choice.
(Credit where it is due, though: I refused the eat the dessert and demanded either something different or another main course, on the basis that previous servings were tiny and if I ate it, I would go into anaphylactic shock, and “I don’t think you want to deal with that, do you?” - they quickly obliged and provided strawberry cheesecake.)

If they were only /told/ it was chicken, what was it in reality?
